Women's Clothing in Mahwah, 1880-1940

Women's fashion today is drastically different than it was in the past. As the times progressed, so too did clothing, and changes in fashion reflected the broader changes that were happening in the United States and the world. Mahwah was not exempt from these changes, as both life and fashion evolved in the town over time. This exhibit focuses on some of those changes, namely from the years 1880 to 1940. This exhibit also tells the stories of some women who lived in Mahwah during these years, and displays how fashion changes throughout the United States had an impact on their personal lives.
