Birch Mansion York Room

The York Room it may no longer have pretty furniture, but it is still an elegant room,

When construction of Ramapo College was being planned there was questions about the functionality of the Birch Mansion. It would not be practical if it still functioned like a home on a college campus. The State Board and the architects decided it would be the administration building. The rooms in the mansion were converted into offices. It would have the office of the president of the school and his cabinet. Other offices in the Birch Mansion are the institutional advancement and office of the provost. There is also the office of grants and sponsored programs also called the Lancaster room. The room that was the most function in the mansion is the York Room. There classes and meetings where people can go to get certified in different fields. People can get certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation or CPR for short. If someone wants to get certified to teach yoga that is also available as well. There are also courses and seminars for business meetings. The History Club has held a few meetings there as well. When Ramapo does Oktoberfest they turn the mansion into a haunted mansion. There are a lot of events that are held in the York Room that there is calendar for it and there is something happening almost every day. “The most elegant restoration within is the York Room with its massive wood burning marble fireplace.” It is a room that has multiple purposes and fits the need for many events. The mansion from time needs some repairs in 2017 the front steps were being redone. Since it is an old home they will be more restoration projects for the future.
